Football Recap: Franklin Central Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Avon

Franklin Central faced Avon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Flashes lost 35-10 to the Orioles. The Flashes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Orioles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Connor Moreland and Markell Bailey certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Moreland threw for 161 yards and one touchdown, while Bailey picked up 59 receiving yards and one score.

Avon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Andre Warfield out in front who rushed for 94 yards and four TDs. The Orioles also got help from Shawn Curry, who showed off his sure hands for 145 receiving yards.

Franklin Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Avon, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Franklin Central will take on Noblesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Flashes are facing the Millers at the right time seeing as the Millers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Avon, they will challenge Fishers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Orioles will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.4 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
