Baseball Game Preview: Armstrong Trojans vs. Cissna Park Timberwolves

The Armstrong Trojans will take on the Cissna Park Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Armstrong has three straight wins, Cissna Park has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Armstrong made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Trojans put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 11-5 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Ryan Edwards was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Freeman, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Cissna Park lost 21-1 to Grant Park on Wednesday.

Cissna Park's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Armstrong, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Armstrong took their victory against Cissna Park when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Timberwolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
