Football Game Preview: Trumann Wildcats vs. Westside Warriors

Trumann has gone 8-2 against Westside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildcats will welcome the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Two weeks ago, Trumann strolled past Harrisburg with points to spare, taking the game 34-18. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won five in a row.

Trumann's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bradon Whitsett led the charge by rushing for 112 yards and one score on only nine carries. Whitsett's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Arzell Rulford, who rushed for 85 yards and one TD on only 11 carries.

Meanwhile, Westside got themselves on the board against Riverview on Friday, but Riverview never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Raiders 45-0. Considering the Warriors' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Westside found their leader in sophomore Aidan Turner, who rushed for 122 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Turner is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Drew Woods got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Westside, racking up 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Woods, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Westside's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Trumann, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Everything came up roses for Trumann against Westside when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 30-0 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
