Basketball Recap: Thornwell Falls Despite Big Games from Aly Jeter and Kelyn Spurgeon

Thornwell lost against Dixie back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Thornwell Saints lost 51-30 to the Dixie Hornets.

Despite the defeat, Thornwell had strong showings from Kelyn Spurgeon, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points and six steals, and Aly Jeter, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.

Kerrie O'Shields was a one-woman wrecking crew for Dixie as she dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten steals. The team also got some help courtesy of LaNya Dotson, who put up 11 points and six steals.

Thornwell now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Dixie, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Thornwell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-25 loss against Calhoun Falls Charter on the 10th. As for Dixie, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-17 defeat against Crescent on the 9th.
