Recap: Mountainair Mustangs vs. To'hajiilee Warriors

After flying high against the Animas Panthers on Saturday, the Mountainair Mustangs came back down to earth. Mountainair took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of To'hajiilee on Tuesday. Mountainair lost against To'hajiilee in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 48-43 score last time.

To'hajiilee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Khyran Guerro led the charge by scoring 15 points. The contest was Guerro 's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Jamen Werito was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Mountainair's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-7. As for To'hajiilee, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Mountainair will head out on the road to face off against Ruidoso at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Ruidoso focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday. To'hajiilee will finish 2023 at home by hosting Tse' Yi' Gai at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th.
