Football Game Preview: Central Catholic Buttons vs. Bishop Lynch Friars

The Central Catholic Buttons will venture away from home to face off against the Bishop Lynch Friars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Central Catholic is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Antonian Prep just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by the Apaches and fell 53-21.

Matthew McClenan put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 71 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also threw for 105 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-28, which was the final score in Bishop Lynch's tilt against Parish Episcopal on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Friars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 321st, while the Panthers are ranked 37th).

Central Catholic's record now sits at 6-4. As for Bishop Lynch, their record is now 5-5.

Central Catholic came up short against Bishop Lynch in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 17-13. Can the Buttons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
