Basketball Game Preview: Maconaquah Braves vs. Lewis Cass Kings

The Maconaquah Braves will take on the Lewis Cass Kings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Maconaquah will bounce into Friday's game after beating Northwestern, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Maconaquah came out on top against Northwestern by a score of 58-50 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Lewis Cass over Logansport in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lewis Cass blew Logansport out of the water with a 46-14 final score. Given the Kings' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Berries are ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Maconaquah better focus on containing Mylie Sipe and Ava Hubner as the pair were huge in Lewis Cass' win. Sipe dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards, while Hubner posted 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those 11 points gave Hubner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aftin Griffin, who put up six points and three steals.

Lewis Cass smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Maconaquah has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Lewis Cass, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-6.

Maconaquah came up short against Lewis Cass in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 42-29. Can Maconaquah avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
