Football Game Preview: Angleton Wildcats vs. Fort Bend Kempner Cougars + Official Tickets

The Angleton Wildcats will take on the Fort Bend Kempner Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Angleton has seven straight victories, Fort Bend Kempner has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

It was a proper cat-fight when Angleton challenged Kingwood Park on Thursday. The Wildcats blew past the Panthers 67-13. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Wyatt Neyland had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 181 yards and two scores on only nine carries. Those 181 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bryce Duron, who threw for 211 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Angleton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 400 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 208 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Fort Bend Kempner's offense. They were dealt a 57-0 defeat at the hands of Crosby on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Fort Bend Kempner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 691st, while Crosby is ranked 287th).

Fort Bend Kempner didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Javion Smallwood and Ashton Lattimer.

Angleton's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Fort Bend Kempner, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Angleton against Fort Bend Kempner in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 59-6 victory. In that contest, the Wildcats amassed a halftime lead of 31-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
