Softball Game Preview: Cornwall Central Dragons vs. Valley Central Vikings

The Cornwall Central Dragons will challenge the Valley Central Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Monday, Cornwall Central came up short against Minisink Valley and fell 6-3. The Dragons haven't had much luck with the MVHS recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Valley Central had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Crusaders, sneaking past 5-3.

Emily Sharpe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Eleanor O'Neill was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Emily Smit, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Cornwall Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Valley Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
