Soccer Game Preview: Ferris vs. Cheney

The Ferris Saxons will head out on the road to square off against the Cheney Blackhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Ferris' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Ferris and Mt. Spokane, and Mt. Spokane kept the tradition alive. The Saxons took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats on Friday. That's two games in a row now that Ferris have lost by exactly two goals.

Cheney fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Shadle Park on Wednesday. Three seems to be a good number for Cheney as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Cheney's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Ferris, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Ferris was able to grind out a solid win over Cheney in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saxons since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
