Baseball Recap: Liberty Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

Liberty came out on top against Valley View on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Bison walked away with a 10-5 win over the Eagles. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 12-9 win back in April.

The team relied heavily on Ian Slater, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Liberty's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jake Feidner, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Valley View, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 16 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Liberty will face off against Cornerstone Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Bison surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valley View, they will square off against Arlington at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
