Baseball Game Preview: Woodstock Blue Streaks vs. Aurora Central Catholic Chargers

The Woodstock Blue Streaks will take on the Aurora Central Catholic Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Monday, Woodstock came up short against Crystal Lake South and fell 7-2. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Streaks in their meetings with the Gators: they've now lost seven in a row.

Woodstock saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Max Haggerty also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Aurora Central Catholic made sure to put some runs up on the board against Sandwich on Tuesday. The Chargers blew past the Indians 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Aurora Central Catholic also got a great performance from Cayden Lohrey as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Lohrey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Aidan Crisci was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Michels, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Aurora Central Catholic pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Woodstock, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
