Soccer Game Preview: Mountain View vs. Severance

The Mountain View Mountain Lions will head out to challenge the Severance Silver Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View has given up an average of 5.1 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mountain View is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Monday, they were much more limited against Timnath on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Cubs. While losing is never fun, Mountain View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Timnath are ranked 62nd).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Severance made sure to put some goals up on the board against Thompson Valley on Thursday. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Severance's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

They hit Thompson Valley with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Travis Griffin (4), Isaac Beals, and Jeovanni Moran- Macedo.

Severance's victory bumped their record up to 5-3-5. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Mountain View suffered a grim 5-2 defeat to Severance when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Mountain Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
