Baseball Game Preview: Norco Cougars vs. Corona Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Norco Cougars challenge Corona Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Norco 2.9, Corona 0.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Monday just wasn't the day for Norco's offense. They came up short against Corona on Monday, falling 9-0. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

For Corona's part, Seth Hernandez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Hernandez a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other pitching news, Jayden Daya looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, Anthony Murphy was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Norco, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
