Softball Recap: Southeastern Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Southeastern walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Central Lions a 20-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Ansley Spitzer looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Maci Vest and Taylor Moon did most of the damage at the plate: Vest got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Moon went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Vest has posted since back in April of 2025. Liliana Cassidy was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Southeastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .769. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive games.

Southeastern pushed their record up to 25-14 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Southeastern has already played their next matchup, an 18-3 win against Central of Coosa County on the 13th. Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
