Basketball Recap: Keswick Christian Takes a Loss

If Keswick Christian was feeling good fresh off their 69-42 takedown of Academy at the Lakes last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Keswick Christian Crusaders fell 63-50 to the Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes on Tuesday. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hurricanes earlier this season, when they won 57-45.

Despite the loss, Keswick Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grant Cook went 8 for 17 en route to 19 points. Zach Bingham was another key player, putting up 11 points and six assists.

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hunter Grove, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Grove is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Mekdeci, who posted 13 points and five assists.

Keswick Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Keswick Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 59-50 loss against Hackettstown on the 24th. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic has also already played their next game, an 80-56 defeat against Indian Rocks Christian on the 23rd.
