Softball Game Preview: Riverdale Rams vs. Seneca Fighting Irish

The Riverdale Rams will square off against the Seneca Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Riverdale sitting on seven straight wins and Seneca on 29.

Riverdale will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Rockridge, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rams were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Rockets on Thursday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by seven runs or more this season.

Brooklyn Peterson was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire Beeler, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Riverdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Seneca earned a 5-2 victory over St. Bede on Tuesday.

Seneca's win was their 32nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 29-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 8.5 runs thus far. As for Riverdale, their record now sits at 22-4.
