Basketball Game Preview: Community Baptist Conqueror vs. Phoenix Academy Firebirds

The Community Baptist Conqueror will square off against the Phoenix Academy Firebirds at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Community Baptist is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Alamance Christian on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Community Baptist came up short against Alamance Christian, falling 66-42. The Conqueror were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-17.

Meanwhile, Phoenix Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Winston-Salem Prep and fell 75-31. While losing is never fun, the Firebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 587th, while the Phoenix are ranked 146th).

Phoenix Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Community Baptist, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Community Baptist didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Phoenix Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 54-50 victory.
