Baseball Recap: Lakewood Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lakewood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past the Dakota Ridge Eagles 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted against the Eagles since April 14, 2016.

Ayden Muniz tossed a big game, pitching 7.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mathis Joens was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Lakewood's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Dakota Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Lakewood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-7 loss against Ralston Valley on the 15th. As for Dakota Ridge, they have also already played their next matchup, an 8-2 victory against Pomona on the 15th.
