Softball Game Preview: Northridge Knights vs. Clearfield Falcons

Northridge hasn't had much luck against Clearfield recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Northridge Knights are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will challenge the Clearfield Falcons at 3:30 p.m. Clearfield took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Northridge, who comes in off a win.

Northridge is headed out to face Clearfield after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Northridge sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over Ogden on Monday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Aubrey Solomon made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cassidy Green, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Jayden Anderson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Northridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ogden only posted an OBP of .417.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Clearfield took on Millard on Saturday. Clearfield fell just short of Millard by a score of 11-9. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brynn Nicholls and Lyla Leonhardt did some serious damage despite the final result: Nicholls scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Leonhardt scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Nicholls also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alexandra Bingham, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Northridge might still be hurting after the 17-6 defeat they got from Clearfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Northridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
