Volleyball Recap: Spooner Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After losing to Shell Lake the last time they met, Spooner decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Rails came out on top against the Lakers by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. That looming 2-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rails yet this season.

Spooner didn't let Shell Lake take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Shell Lake saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Shauna Swan had eight digs and three assists.

Spooner moved to 3-8 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Shell Lake, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Spooner will host Barron at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shell Lake, they are taking a road trip to take on Northwood at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
