Basketball Recap: Whitewater Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Whitewater faced off against Fayette County on Wednesday. The Whitewater Wildcats were dealt an 80-27 defeat at the hands of the Fayette County Tigers. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-15.

Fayette County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Journy Scott out in front who went 5-for-8 en route to 10 points and six steals. What's more, Scott also posted a 63% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andrea Hope, who posted nine points and five steals.

Whitewater's loss was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-23. As for Fayette County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Whitewater does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fayette County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-40 win against Troup County on the 7th.
