St. Ignatius College Preparatory and Los Gatos are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (St. Ignatius College Preparatory 3, Los Gatos 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
St. Ignatius College Preparatory took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Palo Alto get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Spencer Guido looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emmett Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. DJ Delaney was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
St. Ignatius College Preparatory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Los Gatos entered their matchup against Leigh on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Los Gatos took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Leigh.
Los Gatos saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Biller, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Biller also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another was Lucas Carlisle, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
St. Ignatius College Preparatory now has a winning record of 2-1-2. As for Los Gatos, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
St. Ignatius College Preparatory skirted past Los Gatos 2-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Does St. Ignatius College Preparatory have another victory up their sleeve, or will Los Gatos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
