Softball Recap: Watervliet Falls to Coxsackie-Athens in First Game of Season

Watervliet unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 20-9 to the Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Jaden Sierra stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Donnelly, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Coxsackie-Athens has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Watervliet will challenge Waterford-Halfmoon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coxsackie-Athens, they will face off against Chatham at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
