Softball Preview: Tolar Rattlers vs. Axtell Longhorns
The Tolar Rattlers will square off against the Axtell Longhorns at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Tolar picked up another tournament win on Friday. They put the hurt on Life Waxahachie with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Rattlers have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lillie Uselton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect2-for-2 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jorgia Reed was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she also posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Audry Dobbs was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, while Axtell put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Hamilton. Axtell blew past Hamilton 12-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Longhorns have posted since February 15, 2024.
The win made it two in a row for Tolar and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs over those games. As for Axtell, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Tolar skirted past Axtell 7-5 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Tolar repeat their success, or does Axtell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
