Preview: Rider Raiders vs. Aledo Bearcats
Rider is on a four-game streak of home losses, Aledo a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Rider Raiders will take on the Aledo Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, Rider came up short against Saginaw and fell 58-49. While losing is never fun, Rider can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 650th, while Saginaw is ranked 128th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Caiden Reed, who scored 17 points. He hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Aday, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Aledo pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Granbury. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Tuesday (56), Aledo still had to take the loss.
Rider has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Aledo, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Rider skirted past Aledo 63-61 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Does Rider have another victory up their sleeve, or will Aledo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
