Baseball Game Preview: Evans Trojans vs. Cocoa Tigers

The Evans Trojans will take on the Cocoa Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Evans has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Evans is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs last Wednesday, they were much more limited against Gateway on Monday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 15-2.

Evans saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kailand Walker, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Walker is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Tarrick Bridges also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Cocoa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 32nd straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 21-5 to Palm Bay.

Evans' defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Cocoa, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.

Evans took their win against Cocoa in their previous meeting last Wednesday by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
