Basketball Recap: Landen Wicker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mid-Carolina over Airport

Mid-Carolina was the 62-51 winner over Airport when they last played one another back in November of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Rebels fell 57-45 to the Eagles on Tuesday. While the Rebels didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 17-8 in the first quarter.

Mid-Carolina lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Landen Wicker, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Treyvon Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Mid-Carolina and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Airport, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Mid-Carolina and Wagener-Salley will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played. As for Airport, they and Columbia will face off at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played.
