Basketball Recap: Millard South Falls Despite Big Games from Abbi Durow and Aubrey Carder

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Millard South can now relate to. They lost 56-33 to the Millard West Wildcats on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Wildcats are ranked first).

Millard South's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aubrey Carder, who posted 17 points and five boards, and Abbi Durow, who had seven points and six rebounds.

Millard West's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jade Lewis, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 11 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kylee Paben, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 13 points and seven boards.

Millard South's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Millard West, the win (which was their 24th in a row) raised their record to 26-1.

Millard South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Millard West, they will face off against Lincoln North Star at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Millard West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.7 points per game this season.
