Basketball Game Preview: Montezuma Braves vs. Sigourney Savages

Montezuma is 8-1-1 against Sigourney since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Both will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Sigourney is hoping to do what H-L-V couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Montezuma's winning streak, which now stands at four games. Everything went Montezuma's way against H-L-V as Montezuma made off with a 66-45 victory. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Sigourney entered their tilt with Iowa Valley on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-54 win over the Tigers.

Sigourney's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Montezuma, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Montezuma came out on top in a nail-biter against Sigourney in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, sneaking past 61-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montezuma since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
