Basketball Game Preview: Mesick Bulldogs vs. Traverse City Christian Sabres

Mesick hasn't had much luck against Traverse City Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Mesick Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Traverse City Christian Sabres at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mesick is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Crossroads Charter Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mesick blew Crossroads Charter Academy out of the water with a 54-19 final score. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 41-10 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars had no chance of recovering from.

Issac Stroh continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jaeden Simpson, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, Traverse City Christian waltzed into their contest last Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Gladiators by a score of 66-55. Given the Sabres' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Gladiators are ranked 388th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Traverse City Christian pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Mesick, their record is now 4-10.

Mesick couldn't quite finish off Traverse City Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2021 and fell 62-59. Thankfully for Mesick, Brock Broderick (who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
