Basketball Recap: Valdosta Gets the Win

Valdosta won the last time they faced Lowndes, and Jabarri Williams did his part to make sure it happened again. The Valdosta Wildcats took down the Lowndes Vikings 61-45 on Saturday thanks in part to Williams, who went 7 of 17 en route to 22 points and six assists. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Corey Howard, who posted eight points along with ten boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in blocks.

Lowndes' loss came despite strong showings from Isaiah Camon and Kaden Martin. Camon went 7 for 14 on his way to 18 points, while Martin almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Martin is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Dallas Montgomery was another key player, putting up seven points.

Valdosta's record now sits at 13-9. As for Lowndes, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valdosta will venture away from home to challenge Camden County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lowndes, they will head out on the road to take on Colquitt County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
