Basketball Recap: Sumter Takes a Loss

Sumter lost against Ridge View back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sumter Gamecocks were dealt an 82-46 defeat at the hands of the Ridge View Blazers. While losing is never fun, the Gamecocks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Blazers are ranked tenth).

This is the second loss in a row for Sumter and nudges their season record down to 12-12. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 20-3 Blythewood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 79.5% over those games). As for Ridge View, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 18-7.

Looking ahead, Sumter will head out on the road to face off against Westwood at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ridge View, they will be playing at home against Blythewood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ridge View's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
