Football Recap: Hickory Red Tornadoes vs. Statesville Greyhounds
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hickory had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by the Statesville Greyhounds to the tune of 42-7. Considering the Red Tornadoes have won 11 contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Brady Stober continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 209 yards and four touchdowns while completing 94.4% of his passes. Damarion Lee did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 78 receiving yards.
Hickory didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rocket Brice and Brett Rowland. Another thorn in Statesville's side was Jashaelyn Saddler, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
The victory for Hickory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.2 points. As for Statesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Hickory's homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crest is coming into the match with four straight wins on the road, so Hickory will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. Statesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
