Softball Recap: Geneva Comes Up Short

The matchup between Geneva and Aurora Central Catholic on Tuesday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Vikings came up short against the Chargers, falling 17-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Geneva saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Gates, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Another was Kat Cerwin, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Geneva has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Aurora Central Catholic, they pushed their record up to 22-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Geneva will be playing at home against Batavia at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Aurora Central Catholic, they will face off against Kaneland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
