It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Desert Hills had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Cedar Reds 5-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Thunder, who have now won nine matchups in a row.
Lulu West spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Bailey Lee was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Payten Benson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Desert Hills' win bumped their record up to 30-2. As for Cedar, they moved to 25-6 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.
Desert Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cedar, they will take on West Field at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Reds 3.3, the Longhorns 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
