Softball Game Preview: Cypress Bay Lightning vs. Hialeah Gardens Gladiators

Cypress Bay is a perfect 3-0 against Hialeah Gardens since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Lightning will face off against the Gladiators at 7:30 p.m. Cypress Bay has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with six straight losses, while Hialeah Gardens will come in with four straight victories.

Cypress Bay lost 11-4 to Somerset Academy two weeks ago. That's two games in a row now that the Lightning have lost by exactly seven runs.

Meanwhile, Hialeah Gardens made easy work of Mater Lakes Academy on Wednesday and carried off a 17-4 win. Considering the Gladiators have won nine matches by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Krystal Martinez was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Krystina Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Hialeah Gardens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .609. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .545 or higher in four consecutive games.

Cypress Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Hialeah Gardens, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

Cypress Bay took their win against Hialeah Gardens when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Lightning repeat their success, or do the Gladiators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
