Volleyball Recap: Rocori Spartans vs. Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm
After flying high against Fergus Falls last Thursday, Rocori came back down to earth. The Rocori Spartans lost 3-0 to the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm on Tuesday. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
While Rocori had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 25-19.
Mya Iten and Brielle Lieser certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Iten had 34 digs, while Lieser had 15 digs.
Sauk Rapids-Rice had a senior duo take command as Marissa Bomstad had 12 digs and Olivia Lee had five digs and four aces. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Lee.
Rocori's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Sauk Rapids-Rice, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-6.
As of now, neither Rocori nor Sauk Rapids-Rice have any future games scheduled.
