Softball Game Preview: Camden County Bruins vs. North Lenoir Hawks

Camden County is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while North Lenoir is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bruins will host the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Camden County 3.5, North Lenoir 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Camden County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past Heide Trask 4-2.

Ellie Barker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither North Lenoir nor Roanoke Rapids made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Yellowjackets a 4-0 shutout.

The result came thanks to Maddie Rouse's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.

At the plate, North Lenoir secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Hallie Fowler, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

North Lenoir has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Camden County, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.

Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Camden County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like North Lenoir struggles in that department as they've averaged .402. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
