Baseball Recap: Hudson's Bay Comes Up Short

Hudson's Bay extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-9 in the process. They lost 12-4 to the Washougal Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 6-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Tanner Koford was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Hewett, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As for Washougal, they moved to 4-9 with that win, which also ended their eight-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Washougal's side, Tyler Thompson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Thompson has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kadin Gibbons was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Bellamy, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Hudson's Bay will square off against Evergreen at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Plainsmen at the right time seeing as the Plainsmen are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Washougal will be paying especially close attention to Hudson's Bay's match: after Hudson's Bay faces off against Evergreen, they'll take on Washougal again at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
