University starts season with win on the road

Recap: University Bulldogs vs. Weld Central Rebels

University had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Weld Central Rebels a 19-0 shutout on Monday. That's more bragging rights for University, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Connor Weber was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Weber was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with a home run and two additional RBI.

In other batting news, Dalton Yaste was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and a stolen base. Scott Thompson was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI.

Weld Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Timnath at 4:00 p.m. on March 28th. As for Weld Central, they will head out on the road to face off against The Classical Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
