Basketball Recap: Durham School of the Arts Comes Up Short

Durham School of the Arts played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans and fell 66-21. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the loss, Durham School of the Arts saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Shawne Dowdy posted eight points.

Leading Southern School of Energy and Sustainability to victory were AJ Morman Jr. and Jackson Keith. Morman Jr. went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds, while Keith went 7 for 14 en route to 15 points along with eight boards and three steals. The match was Keith's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dwight Vincent, who put up seven points.

Durham School of the Arts' defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Durham School of the Arts didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-32 loss against South Granville on the 4th. Southern School of Energy and Sustainability has also already played their next contest, a 76-35 victory against Granville Central on the 4th.
