Basketball Recap: Ponte Vedra Falls Short of Beachside in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ponte Vedra can now relate to. They were beaten by the Beachside Barracudas 73-34 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Barracudas this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-37 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Ponte Vedra saw an underclassman step up: freshman Julia Conroy posted eight points. The dominant performance gave Conroy a new career-high in points.

Beachside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Morgan Cremen out in front who went 6-for-9 to rack up 19 points along with eight assists and five steals. Cremen's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Kendall Kane was another key player, going 8-for-12 on her way to 21 points and five assists.

Ponte Vedra's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Beachside, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-9.

Ponte Vedra didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-20 loss against Booker T. Washington on the 13th. As for Beachside, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-43 win against Orange Park on the 13th.
