Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Murphy Wildcats vs. Shorewood Stormrays

For the second straight game, Archbishop Murphy will face off against Shorewood. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stormrays at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Archbishop Murphy is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Shorewood just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 13-2 to the Stormrays.

For Shorewood's part, they got a great performance from Reid Oliveto as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Oliveto has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jameson Connolly was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Finn Liekkio, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Shorewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Shorewood is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Murphy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
