Basketball Recap: Calvary Baptist Takes a Loss

Calvary Baptist lost against Covenant Christian back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Calvary Baptist Eagles received a blow as they fell 50-32 to the Covenant Christian Cougars. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Calvary Baptist saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tamika Victoria posted 16 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Victoria has scored all season. Lydia Guisler was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Calvary Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Covenant Christian found their leader in sophomore Lucy Hahn, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards. Hahn has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cailyn Cummins, who had nine points in addition to seven assists and six steals.

Calvary Baptist's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Covenant Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Calvary Baptist wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 41-30 loss against Salt and Light Homeschool on the 7th. As for Covenant Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lifestyle Christian at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th.
