Softball Recap: Berkley Drops Highest Score of Season Against Clawson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berkley). Everything went their way against the Clawson Trojans on Monday as they made off with a 21-12 win. With that victory, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.

Kayla Childress was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, nine RBI, and four runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Brooke Schall was another key player, going 5-for-6 with five runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Berkley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.

With the win, Berkley broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6-1. As for Clawson, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berkley will take on Clarenceville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Clawson, they will square off against Center Line at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
