Game recap: Cheraw High School Football Team defeats Central

PAGELAND, S.C. - Cheraw (S.C.) snapped the four-game winning streak of Central (Pageland, S.C.), with a 29-7 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a passing touchdown in the second quarter, the Braves were up 14-7 at the half.

Cheraw grew its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. The Braves scored three times in the third, including once on a rushing touchdown.

A 15-point third quarter helped Cheraw secure the big victory. The Braves scored on two rushing touchdowns in the quarter, including one by Khalil Newton.

Central's only touchdown came on a pass in the second quarter.



Coming into the game Cheraw had allowed 22.0 points per game this year.

The defeat comes as a step back for Central, who notched a 38-7 victory over Indian Land in its previous outing. With the win the Braves extended their winning streak to four games.

Central (6-3) goes up against Andrew Jackson in a AA Region IV game matchup next week, while Cheraw (5-4) locks horns with Chesterfield also in a AA Region IV game.
