Recap: La Plata Warriors vs. St. Charles

The La Plata Warriors lost against St. Charles back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with La Plata falling 61-47. They have struggled against St. Charles recently, as their match on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaylen Jones, who scored ten points along with three steals. Dwayne Liggins was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.

St. Charles was led to victory by Tajir Webster and Xavier Buchanan. Webster scored 19 points, while Buchanan scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Buchanan has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Shamir Taylor, who scored five points along with three steals.

La Plata has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for St. Charles, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

La Plata will be playing in front of their home fans against Leonardtown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Leonardtown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than La Plata in Maryland (Leonardtown is ranked 100th, while La Plata is ranked 232nd). As for St. Charles, they will head out on the road to face off against Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Great Mills knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully St. Charles likes a good challenge.
