Baseball Recap: Michigan City Comes Up Short

In Wednesday's Canine Competition, Michigan City had to take the L. They came up short against the Crown Point Bulldogs on Wednesday, falling 31-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 on Tuesday.

Keegan Cowgill made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Michigan City is 4-2 when Cowgill posts two or more runs, but 3-17 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zaire McKinney, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Michigan City has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Crown Point, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 23-4.

Coming up, Michigan City will head out to challenge Marquette Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crown Point, they will square off against NorthWood at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
