Basketball Recap: Hemphill Has No Trouble Against Newton

Hemphill won the last time they faced Newton and things went their way on Friday too. The Hemphill Hornets strolled past the Newton Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 46-28. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Hemphill's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Newton, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hemphill will head out to square off against Shelbyville at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Shelbyville's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Hemphill has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. As for Newton, they will square off against Pineywoods Community Academy at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
